Fall 2011: Tzedek Tirdoff – Justice you Shall Pursue, Social Justice and Philanthropy Program
TAG’s grade 11/12 Jewish social justice and philanthropy course will offer a comprehensive look at Vancouver’s at risk communities and Jewish values of social responsibility and tzedakah. The 12 week, fall semester course, will explore issues of: homelessness, hunger and poverty; vulnerable populations and environmental responsibility. Students will be encouraged, through class discussions, field trips and guest lecturers, to think critically about tikkun olam and their roles as Jewish teens living in an imperfect world.
Spring 2012: Using our Jewish Lens – Film and Film Making Class
TAG’s grade 11/12 Jewish film making course will offer an opportunity for teens to explore Jewish values as they are reflected in film. They’ll then experience the process of making their own Jewish-values inspired short film. The 12 week Spring semester course, will culminate in the submission of completed films into the Jewish Film Festival’s teen film competition.
